Welcome to the year of the "merchant." For some reason, the internet gets locked onto a word and then just starts using it for everything. The other day I saw someone call Kerby Joseph a turnover merchant as a way to insult him. I have no idea what is happening to Football Twitter right now.
Anyhow, it seems like all this started when Steelers receiver George Pickens went on FS1 and called Amon-Ra St. Brown a "slot merchant."
"I probably say schematically is the big thing in football. That's how you get Amon-Ra St. Brown, slot merchants, that's schematically getting fed the ball," Pickens explained. “When it comes to that, I ain't playing QB, o-line, and defense all at once. So schematically, that's probably the biggest thing in that way for me to really show the world a bigger platform over my game style."
St. Brown initially downplayed the comments, but on Sunday night he got the last laugh when he wore this hoody ahead of the Lions' Sunday Night Football matchup with the Vikings.
Brilliant. That was the best response that he could have. Just embrace the insult and continue to be as good as you are. He's selling these hoodies too. You can get one here.
