The New York Yankees are coming off their first World Series appearance since 2009.
Although the Yankees suffered a heartbreaking World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, they need to keep their game face on this offseason.
Yankees’ superstar outfielder Juan Soto is the top free agent in this year’s class, and the Yankees are doing everything they can to bring Soto back next year.
While the Soto sweepstakes has involved plenty of rumors, MLB Analyst Jim Duquette has a strong belief about where Soto will sign this offseason.
“The Yankees will be very difficult for Juan Soto to turn down,” Duquette said via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.
The Soto sweepstakes has several MLB teams interested including the Yankees, Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and the New York Mets.
There has been discussion on whether or not Soto will simply take the deal that offers the most money, in which case Duquette believes Soto will sign with the Mets.
Duquette does believe that Soto will end up signing with the Yankees if the team offers $700 million or more.
It has been reported that Soto is expected to sign within the next week, so it will be interesting to see how much more drama will come in the next few days.
Soto solidified his top free agent status by having a great first season with the Yankees in 2024 that included a .288 batting average with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and a .989 OPS.
The Yankees hope that Duquette’s prediction comes true, and that they can bring back Soto for the 2025 season.
