Baker Mayfield had a career year for the Buccaneers last season, finishing as a top-five fantasy quarterback. However, the Bucs lost their offensive coordinator. What does this mean for Baker Mayfield’s dynasty outlook as he enters his age-30 season?
Dynasty Outlook for Baker Mayfield
Current Production
Mayfield has seen a career resurgence since he signed with the Buccaneers. In two seasons with them, he has two top-ten fantasy finishes after never finishing above QB16 in five previous seasons with the Browns and Rams. He finished as the QB4 in 2024. Only Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow finished with more fantasy points than Mayfield among quarterbacks. Mayfield also produced consistent fantasy production with twelve weeks as a top-ten quarterback. There were only three weeks when he was not a top-20 quarterback. He had career highs in pass completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He had 4500 passing yards and 41 passing touchdowns.
Mayfield Dynasty Price
According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Mayfield is the QB17. He was the QB24 entering last season before jumping up seven spots to where he is now. He is ranked right below J.J. McCarthy, Brock Purdy, and Cam Ward while ahead of Michael Penix Jr., Trevor Lawrence, and Jared Goff.
Mayfield is 30 years old, and although many of these players are much younger than him, they are all unproven. McCarthy and Ward have never taken a snap in the NFL, while Penix has only made a couple of starts. Mayfield has also had better success than Purdy, Lawrence, and Goff in fantasy over the last two years. Yes, Mayfield is older, but he has shown he can be a top-five quarterback in fantasy, while the rest of these guys have not. Mayfield is under-ranked in dynasty leagues right now. He is worth an early first-round pick in Superflex dynasty leagues.
Mayfield Dynasty Outlook
The Buccaneers are returning almost all of their skill players. They re-signed Chris Godwin to come back with Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan. Cade Otton is back at tight end, while both Rachaad White and Bucky Irving are in the backfield. The only concern is that the Bucs lost their offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, to the Jaguars. The Bucs promoted Josh Grizzard, who was the pass game coordinator, to be the new offensive coordinator. Grizzard knows the system and worked with Mayfield last year, so the offense should be able to replicate the same success as last year.
What To Do With Baker Mayfield in Dynasty Leagues?
Even though Mayfield had a career year last year, he is still being undervalued in dynasty leagues. Therefore, make a trade for Mayfield. Although he probably won’t finish as a top-four fantasy quarterback again, there is no reason why he won’t finish as a top-ten quarterback in the next two years and potentially beyond. I would rather have Mayfield as my dynasty quarterback than any of the rookies in the draft class who would go around what his trade value is worth. Mayfield is a player that you want to have on your dynasty team.
