Baker Mayfield just roasted Liam Coen — and Buccaneers fans can’t stop laughing

Most Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are looking ahead to a brand new season, one that could see the team finish the year as Super Bowl champions. That's the aspiration heading into Year 3 of the Baker Mayfield Era, and vibes continue to be absolutely immaculate.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB didn't hold back roasting Liam Coen over his awkward first moments as Jaguars head coach.

It's a far cry from how we all felt when the offseason began.

Not long after the Bucs lost in the NFC Wild Card game to Washington, Liam Coen took the franchise and its fans on one of the wildest roller coaster rides we've ever seen. He went from agreeing to return as offensive coordinator to ghosting the team when it came time to sign his contract, to ending up as the Jacksonville Jaguars' new head coach.

Coen went from a savior to a pariah overnight, which made his awkward introductory press conference even sweeter for Bucs fans. It's not just fans who got a kick out of his cringy delivery of the Jaguars' slogan, as Baker Mayfield was listening as well.

Baker was a guest on Pardon My Take and was asked about his reaction to Coen's infamous "Duuuuuuvaal" moment. Needless to say, it was both a cathartic moment for Bucs fans still upset over how the whole situation unfolded and a reminder of what a treat it is that Baker is in Tampa Bay.

"What are you doing? Stop trying to be the cool guy. Just do your job. Be a head coach. Big a figure up there," Mayfield said, before mocking Coen's mannerisms. "I don't if they want that culture."

It was truly amazing stuff:

For anyone thinking that this means there's animosity between the two, Baker clarified that his roasting was all in good fun. He made sure to mention that he still talks to Coen and thinks he's a great coach.

"He’s a great coordinator, I’m interested to see how it goes," Mayfield said. "We still talk all the time. He’s a great coach, we’ll see how it goes as a head coach."

Enough time has passed that fans have pretty much gotten over the whole situation. It still stings, but at this point Josh Grizzard has taken over and all eyes are on what's next for the Bucs rather than what happened six months ago.

If anything, Baker's light-hearted way of addressing the situation, which was also tinged with some solid roasting, proves that losing Coen won't be a weight that sinks the Bucs' spirits. We'll have to see if that holds true as far as losing him on the field, but for now it seems like the vibes are back to being as immaculate as we remember them in Tampa Bay.
