Baker Mayfield is off to another big season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After signing a $100 million deal in the offseason, the former No. 1 overall pick paid off the trust placed in him with a second straight 25-touchdown season.
In fact, according to the Buccaneers, Mayfield is just the second quarterback in Buccaneers history to record back-to-back seasons with at least 25 passing touchdowns. He joins Tom Brady, who had 40 TD passes in 2020, 43 in 2021 and 25 in 2022.
The Bucs were full of praise for Mayfield as they mentioned him in the same breath as Brady in an Instagram post, calling the two "Tampa Bay Legends."
"TAMPA BAY LEGENDS," the Bucs wrote along with two goat emojis. "[Baker Mayfield] & [Tom Brady] are the only QBs in franchise history to record 25+ TD passes in consecutive seasons."
That being said, Mayfield is well on track to exceed his 28 passing touchdowns from 2023. Should he do so, it will be a new career-high for him.
Sure enough, the Bucs need Mayfield to be at his best in their last five games, especially as they try to fight for the top seed in the NFC South.
