Bettors are hammering underdog Mike Tyson over Jake Paul and so should you - hong nhung

Mike Tyson is 30 years older than Jake Paul, but bettors don’t expect that to matter much when the two touch gloves on July 20.

Though oddsmakers have Tyson as the underdog, public bettors and sharps alike are hammering the 57-year-old to come out on top. At BetMGM, 80% of tickets have Tyson winning and 70% of the money is on Tyson. And this isn’t simply the result of bettors trying to capitalize on long-shot odds, as Paul is only a small favorite at -145 to Tyson at +150.

People just seem to genuinely believe Tyson will win. I guess it’s hard to forget what he was capable of in his heyday.

For that reason, BetMGM needs Paul to come out on top in what the sportsbook is expecting to be the most-bet boxing match of the year.

“This is the type of mega fight that will draw in multiple demographics: Tyson supporters, Jake Paul haters and casual sports fans,” BetMGM senior trader Alex Rella said. “I fully expect this to be the most bet on boxing match of the year. Tyson is receiving strong support from bettors and the sportsbook will be rooting for Paul.”

However, just because the house is rooting for Paul doesn’t mean you should. Even if you don’t necessarily dislike Paul as so many people seem to, watching Tyson win a boxing match would be a nostalgic experience. It would also be much better than seeing the potential alternative of a 57-year-old getting beat up by someone much younger than him.
