Brittany Cartwright Files for Divorce From Jax Taylor After 5 Years of Marriage as The Valley Star's Custody Request of Son Cruz is Revealed

Six months after separating from Jax, 45, the 35-year-old cast member of The Valley, a spinoff of Vanderpump Rules, filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting she be granted full custody of their three-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ on August 27, Brittany listed her and Jax’s separation as January 24, 2024, and she requested primary legal and physical custody of Cruz — with Jax getting nothing more than visitation with the child.

She also requested that neither of them be granted with the ability to receive spousal support from the other.

As Pump Rules fans will recall, Brittany and Jax began dating in 2015 and got engaged in June 2018 after briefly splitting on the heels of Jax’s affair with their former castmate Faith Stowers. They then wed in June 2019 and welcomed son Cruz in April 2021.

In the months since Brittany moved out of her and Jax’s shared home in Valley Village, which they purchased in 2019 for $1.9 million, Brittany has been linked to Bachelorette alum Tanner Courtad, 31, and Jax has been spotted with model Paige Woolen, 32, on more than one occasion.

In February, as Brittany confirmed she and Jax had separated on their shared podcast, When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany, she admitted that marriages, in general, were “very hard.”

“I’ve had a particularly rough year in mine this past year. Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she explained. “I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”

“People go through ups and downs all the time, and it’s completely normal. Sometimes people might need their space; sometimes they won’t. But I just think that the media takes things and runs with it without knowing the true facts,” she added.
