It's wild enough that Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix became the franchise's first rookie since John Elway to secure a postseason berth. This marks the first time Denver has reached the playoffs since 2015.
The standout rookie might not stop there, though. Nix can accomplish something that no rookie in the NFL ever has before when he heads to Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., for the wild-card round of the playoffs. It's not just the fact that he can be the first-ever Broncos rookie quarterback to win a playoff game in his rookie season.
Nix and his Denver team have been on a roll lately when he goes on the road. In his last four road games, Nix has accounted for 970 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, and just one interception. Statistically speaking, he's been a verified road warrior, even though the Broncos only have a 1-3 record in those games. His season-long stats are certainly eye-opening, no matter where he's playing.
On Sunday, Nix has a chance to become the first rookie quarterback in NFL history with multiple touchdown passes in five consecutive road games, including the playoffs. All Nix has to do is have another game with multiple passing touchdowns. Nix has only had seven games this season with one or fewer touchdown passes. He also hasn't thrown fewer than two touchdown passes in his last four games of the 2024 NFL regular season, both home and away.
Given the high-powered nature of the Bills' offense under Josh Allen, Nix must throw many passing touchdowns to keep Denver in the game and give them a chance to win. That's what matters most and not a silly statistic, but it'd bode well for the Broncos if Nix could manage multiple passing TDs on Sunday. Buffalo also ranks in the top 10 for passing touchdowns allowed during the 2024 NFL season (28, T-6th). It all aligns with Nix achieving that feat in his rookie season. It'll be another feather in his hat in what was quite the display in a stacked AFC West division.
