Browns' Dillon Gabriel Video Faces Backlash After QB Competition Update

One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Cleveland Browns is their Week 1 quarterback battle between veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.

Of course, each of these quarterbacks will have a chance to prove why their best fit for the job during the Browns' training camp in Berea, Ohio, with rookies already reporting on Friday and the veterans scheduled to show up on Tuesday.

Throughout the offseason, Cleveland has made many efforts to showcase both their rookie quarterbacks, and on Monday, they posted a video of Gabriel completing a pass to tight end Harold Fanin Jr with the caption "Dillon slingin'"

In what was supposed to be a video showcasing him putting in work on the field has quickly earned backlash with many criticizing the Browns for hyping up what can be seen as a routine throw.

"how many checksown throws are we going to show," said one comment.

"Slinging? That was a 5-yard floater to the tight end," said another.

"Lmao a five yard pass is slinging? Who runs this pathetic site?" a third added.

A fourth stated, "Oh wow throws a 15 yard pass with no defense on the field."

"Slinging it 6yds..." a fifth continued.

"Any Jr High kid can “sling” it 10 yards," said another.

However, even if many fans aren't too impressed with what they've seen from Gabriel, they may be counting on him to secure the season's first win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7.

On Monday, ESPN Cleveland's Tom Rizzo updated that he's becoming a top contender in the positional battle, stating, "I'm telling you that I believe that Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel are the two guys that I'd be looking at right now to start."
