The Cleveland Browns are on the brink of football disaster after losing three more offensive linemen to injuries in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.
Left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., who was making his first appearance since Week 9 of last season, reaggravated his knee injury and left the game. Backup tackle James Hudson also left the game with an injury while starting right guard Wyatt Teller also exited.
Tackle Jack Conklin is still unable to go, so it's nothing but rookies and backups for the Browns in a key area of need.
Bleacher Report published an article on a free agent signing they feel could help the Browns get by in the time being.
"It's going to be tough sledding for this offense to get on the right track if they don't find some reinforcements as soon as possible," Bleacher Report writes.
"Donovan Smith had his share of struggles with the Chiefs last season, but he's still an experienced option who could make a few spot-starts for the Browns this season."
Smith might not be the ideal fit for the Browns, but they are flat out of options. Moving guard Joel Bitonio to left tackle should not be a long-term fix. It got them through the rest of the game with the Giants, but shouldn't be looked at a permanent situation.
Whatever the Browns are going to do, they need to do it fast.
