Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic is drawing significant trade interest around the NHL as he navigates the final season of his two-year, $4.6 million contract with the franchise.
According to NHL insider Kevin Weekes, reporting on Tuesday, Frederic's combination of "size, speed, toughness, character, and skill" has piqued the curiosity of several teams, potentially opening doors for a move ahead of the trade deadline.
"In speaking to sources, several teams are interested in pending UFA (after this season) [Trent] Frederic," Weekes posted on X. "With his size, speed, toughness, character, and skill, he's drawing attention in the marketplace."
The Bruins, while underperforming to start the season, are far from becoming sellers given their 6-7-1 record through 14 games and coming off a second-round playoff appearance in 2024.

Frederic, 26, was drafted 29th overall by Boston in 2016 and is considered a gritty, middle-six forward.
Though his offensive numbers have been modest this season-with just 1 goal and 2 assists in 14 games-his physical presence is vital in the role he plays for the Bruins. Cue his 43 hits, trailing only Mark Kastelic's 56 within Boston's roster.
Frederic is coming off a career-best season in which he appeared in all 82 regular-season games, scoring 18 goals and 22 assists while completing 204 hits.
On Sunday, Frederic fought Adam Larsson of the Seattle Kraken in defense of teammate Matthew Poitras, showing the type of traits he could bring to prospective suitors willing to trade for him.
