The Boston Bruins tried out some new lines at practice.
The Boston Bruins were back on the ice on Friday (Oct. 18) for practice as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Utah Hockey Club. During it, head coach Jim Montgomery tried out some new forward lines.
Without much surprise, Montgomery's changes once again involved the middle six. The second and third lines have had trouble finding chemistry this season, so it makes sense that Montgomery is continuing to try out new trios.
Justin Brazeau, who was scratched last game against the Colorado Avalanche, skated on the second line with Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand. Brazeau has had a slow start to the season, recording one assist and a minus-3 rating in four games. However, he has shown in the past that he can be impactful offensively, so perhaps playing on the second line could get him going.
After being scratched against the Avs, Morgan Geekie practiced on the third line with Matthew Poitras and Trent Frederic. Geekie struggled to produce on the second line for Boston this year, recording zero points and a minus-4 rating.
With Brazeau and Geekie once again skating with the regulars, Max Jones and Riley Tufte were the extras.
