Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has taken the league by storm in the first six games of his NFL career.
Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, has not only led the Commanders to their first 4-2 start to a season since 2018, but he's also done it in style. He's already thrown for 1,404 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 322 yards and four touchdowns.
As a result, many fans have already started to argue that the Chicago Bears (4-2) should have taken Daniels with the first overall pick this past NFL draft. The Bears, instead, selected quarterback Caleb Williams, who had a rough first couple of games but has since shown great promise.
In Week 1, he struggled with just 93 passing yards, and in Week 2, improved slightly with 174 yards. However, by Week 5, he found his rhythm, throwing for 304 yards, and in Week 6, he added 226 yards and four touchdowns.
In a sit-down interview shared by the NFL, Williams was asked if he's seen Daniels' hot start.
Williams admitted he has and shared that Daniels and Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury have "been balling" together.
"You obviously watch the guys around the league," Williams answered. "Whether they're rookies or the guys that's in their 19th year, like A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers). And they've been balling over there. Kliff (Kingsbury) and Jayden (Daniels) over there have been connecting."
Before this season, Kingsbury served as a senior offensive analyst for the USC Trojans, where Caleb Williams played for two seasons and won the Heisman Trophy. The two spent a lot of time together in Los Angeles.
Williams and Daniels also share a connection from being in the same draft class.
"I've been around Kliff (Kingsbury), so I know what type of guy he is," Williams added. "Been around Jayden (Daniels). I know what type of guy he is. And them two, being in the same room together. Obviously, they're going to do great things, and that's what they've been doing."
In Week 7, Daniels and the Commanders will face the Carolina Panthers, while Williams and the Bears are on a bye.
Kickoff for the Commanders-Panthers game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.
