The Tennessee Titans have all but submitted the card to select Cam Ward with the first overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. The former Miami quarterback is confident, too, that he'll be the choice, as he recently went on a YouTube live stream and made several comments that indicate his allegiance to the Titans.
One fan who was watching the stream asked Ward who his top wide receivers were in the NFL, to which he responded that Titans wideout Calvin Ridley is the best in the league. Someone pointed out his negligence in failing to mention A.J. Brown, to which Ward responded strongly.
"A.J. Brown is a dog, but he is not Calvin Ridley," said Ward.
By almost every metric, Brown has had a far superior NFL career to Ridley. Neither their stats nor accolades are very comparable, not to mention that Brown just recently won a Super Bowl. However, Ward already seems to be taking on the mentality of the Titans' quarterback by defending his teammates, even when the facts say otherwise.
This should be music to the ears of Titans fans, who have wanted Ward since the end of the 2024 NFL season. Now, the young quarterback is showing that he has a mutual love of the franchise, and many of his comments during the live stream were geared toward pleasing the fan base as well.
Ridley may not be a better player than Brown right now, but with Ward, the game could entirely change for the seventh-year receiver. Look for this pairing to do some serious damage next year when Ward's name is inevitably called first in the NFL Draft.
