The Chicago Cubs have already started seeing injury issues begin to pop up. Justin Steele was the big news this week, as he was placed on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow tendinitis. He has dealt with that injury twice before.
On Saturday night, the Cubs pulled off a dominant 16-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, the win did not come with no cost.
During the game, outfielder Seiya Suzuki left the game due to right wrist pain. It was also shared that he had first started feeling the issue during Chicago's earlier series against the Athletics.
Losing Suzuki for any length of time would be a major concern for the Cubs.
Suzuki has become a huge part of Chicago's offense. Without him, the Cubs would be missing one of their more productive bats.
To begin the season, Suzuki has hit four home runs to go along with 15 RBI's and a slash line of .292/.390/.538 in 17 games. Those numbers would not be easy to replace.
At this point in time, there has been no update about how serious the injury might be or if he could be forced to miss time. He was simply removed for the game and was replaced in his designated hitter role by Miguel Amaya.
In his place, Amaya had a big game against the Dodgers. He hit 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI's.
Following the win over Los Angeles on Saturday, Chicago moved to 10-7 on the young season. With the record, the Cubs currently are leading the NL Central division race.
