As the Kansas City Chiefs make their final preparations for Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes believes his team has something "special" brewing.
"This team's been special because it's been everybody,'' Mahomes said. "If you look at our entire season, it's like someone makes a big play at the biggest moment to go out there and win a football game, if that's offense, defense or special teams. The fact that it's been everybody, it's not just offense, it's not just defense, it's everybody on the entire team, it is something I'll remember this season by and hopefully we can do it the right way and get this final win."
Kansas City took down the Houston Texans in the divisional round before a 32-29 victory over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game.
Following the AFC title game, Mahomes picked up a unique honor as Nickelodeon's most valuable player in the playoffs. "Lade and gentlemen, your Playoffs NVP," the Chiefs announced on Friday afternoon.
Mahomes and the Chiefs are preparing to play in their fifth Super Bowl in the past six seasons. With a 3-1 record in the big game, the star quarterback is drawing ever closer to the seven Super Bowl titles from Tom Brady - the only quarterback to defeat Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City faces off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a repeat of Super Bowl LVII where the Chiefs emerged with a 38-35 victory.
Super Bowl LIX kicks off from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
