Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu vows vengeance in ACL injury update three months post-operation

Kansas City Chiefs DL Charles Omenihu says he's coming back with a vengeance.

Omenihu is making tremendous progress as he recovers from an ACL injury suffered during that AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens. The standout defender has been spotted on the sidelines at practices supporting his teammates at OTAs, eager to get an opportunity to participate in football activities. He didn't get the opportunity to play against his former team in Super Bowl LVIII, but he's out to prove himself as he enters the final year of his two-year contract in Kansas City.

While Omenihu is still a bit off from returning to practice, he took to social media to share a new video update on Monday, June 3. It marked three months since his operation to repair his ACL. In the video, he showed himself doing strength-building exercises for his injured knee. He also called out his detractors in the caption of the post.

"Surgery knee btw," Omenihu wrote. "3 months post OP. They said I wouldnt be the same. Keep doubting. Vengeance OTW."

Just last week, Chiefs CB Nazeeh Johnson, who is dealing with his own knee injury, suggested that Omenihu was ahead of schedule in his recovery. This video certainly feels like further proof that the defensive lineman is doing everything in his power to get back on the field as quickly as possible. Omenihu previously hinted at a Week 13 return date shortly after the 2024 NFL schedule release. That target doesn't seem as unachievable as it previously might have.

Even facing some early adversity last season due to a suspension, Omenihu managed a dominant 2023 NFL season rushing the passer. He recorded seven sacks and 29 pressures in 11 games played, plus another sack and eight more pressures during the playoffs.

If you're further interested in Omenihu's recovery and rehabilitation, the 26-year-old has been documenting his journey on his YouTube channel. He currently has two videos uploaded and several shorts, with more on the way.
