Chiefs remain in the dark to whether Hollywood Brown will play vs Bengals

As Week 2 creeps closer, the Chiefs are still in the dark as to whether or not Hollywood Brown will be available to them.

The Kansas City Chiefs have returned to practice on Wednesday to prepare for their upcoming contest against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals. Even though a full week of rest and recovery has passed for wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Browndsb, the Chiefs are still no closer to knowing if he will be available or not.

On Wednesday, Brown was the only Chiefs player sitting out of practice of those on the team's active roster.

The Chiefs have refused to place Brown on injured reserve, which would free up his roster space but would force him to miss at least four straight games. The lack of a move insinuates they anticipate his return sooner than later.

As Week 2 creeps closer, the Chiefs are still in the woods as to whether or not Hollywood Brown will be available to them.

Unfortunately, Brown remains out for the near future, and head coach Andy Reid's remarks to reporters were filled with the same cryptic speech as previous updates—which is to say that there is no update.

Brown is currently resting and waiting for medical clearance for a sternoclavicular injury that had the potential to be much more severe, so it's easy to understand why doctors are playing it safe before allowing him to play again.

The Chiefs added Brown as their free agent prize of the offseason and one of the primary methods of rebuilding the team's wide receiving corps along with drafting Xavier Worthy and adding JuJu Smith-Schuster shortly before active roster cuts were due in late August. Brown's presence gives the Chiefs a versatile wideout who was already developing solid chemistry with Patrick Mahomes in offseason throwing sessions.

The Chiefs offense looked very good in Week 1 with the continued emergence of Rashee Rice and the debut of Worthy along with greater depth at running back and tight end. The eventual addition of Brown should elevate the entire unit to even greater heights—an exciting proposition for the Chiefs' offense.

Brown had 51 catches for 574 yards and 4 touchdowns last season for the Arizona Cardinals.
