College Coach Praises Commanders LB Jordan Magee: 'He Takes It To Heart'
Washington Commanders linebacker Jordan Magee is entering his first season in the NFL, but he's made a lasting impression on his alma mater.
A fifth-round pick by Washington this past April, Magee recently received some high praise from Chris Woods, his former linebackers coach at Temple.
"It's a guy that's gonna do the dirty work that you need when maybe things aren't going well, the guy that's gonna be the leader and rally the troops and say the right things behind closed doors and be an extension of the coaching staff," Woods said, per the Commanders team website.
Magee, a Dover, DE native that grew up about 90 minutes east of FedEx Field, spent four seasons at Temple. He brings some intangibles to Washington that Woods thinks will go "a long way."
"When you tell him something ... he takes it to heart," Woods said. " ... I think it's just a product of how he approaches everything. It's not just football ... He is a hardworking guy and pays attention and tries to do what you ask him to do. And that goes a long way."
In four years for the Owls, Magee posted 235 total tackles, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, 10 passes defended and an interception.
As the Commanders enter into a new era of excitement, he'll look to eventually be a key contributor on a defense that will be crucial in helping the franchise turn things around.
