Commanders’ $30 Million Pro Bowl OL Predicted as NFC East’s Best

While the Philadelphia Eagles made Super Bowl champion center Cam Jurgens the second highest paid player at his position with a 4-year, $68 million contract on April 21, it doesn’t mean he’s even the best at his position in his own division.

Tyler Biadasz

Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder thinks that spot belongs to Washington Commanders center Tyler Biadasz, who signed a 3-year, $30 million free agent contract in March 2024 and subsequently helped lead the franchise to the NFC Championship Game in his first season.

“Cam Jurgens is coming off an impressive campaign, earning a Pro Bowl nomination in his first season as the Eagles’ starting center,” Holder wrote on July 7. “Biadasz has just been doing it longer and for two NFC East teams over the last five years. Plus, the latter was better in pass protection last year, allowing 14 pressures to Jurgens’ 25, per Pro Football Focus.”

While Biadasz and Jurgens are both in the Top 10 highest paid NFL centers, the top spot belongs to 2-time Super Bowl champion and Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey, who signed a 4-year, $72 million contract extension in August 2024.

Biadasz Became Anchor For Commanders Up Front

The Commanders head into 2025 as legitimate Super Bowl contenders thanks in no small part to the balance Biadasz brought to the offensive line and the connection he made with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in their first season together.

With Biadasz leading the way, Daniels was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowler while setting the NFL rookie quarterback record with 891 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns.

Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon named the Commanders signing Biadasz as one of the best moves by any NFL team in the 2024 offseason.

Biadasz was a fourth round pick (No. 146 overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 NFL draft out of Wisconsin. He became the full time starter in his second season, started all but 2 games over the next 3 seasons and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2022.

“In advance of drafting Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 pick, the Washington Commanders gave the rookie quarterback a reliable veteran at center,” Kenyon wrote in June 2024. “Tyler Biadasz, who started for the Dallas Cowboys, followed now-Washington coach Dan Quinn from the NFC East rival. Biadasz will provide stability as the Commanders begin a new era.”

Commanders Retooled Offensive Line

The Commanders went 12-5 in the regular season in 2024 — their best record since 1991 — and have retooled their offensive line for 2025 with a couple of massive offseason moves.

The first and most important of those was trading for 4-time Pro Bowl left offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil on March 10 to come in and protect Daniels’ blind side. The Commanders paid heavily for Tunsil, sending the Houston Texans their 2025 second round pick, 2026 fourth round pick, 2025 third round pick and 2025 seventh round pick.

Washington general manager Adam Peters wasn’t done there. The Commanders doubled down on protecting Daniels by drafting Oregon offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. in the first round (No. 29 overall) of the 2025 NFL draft — a player who could start at multiple positions on the offensive line as a rookie and eventually become the Commanders’ long-term solution at left offensive tackle.
