Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has detailed how Jayden Daniels can suit up against the Chicago Bears.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been going through rigorous testing all week on his injured ribs in an attempt to play against the Chicago Bears.
With Daniels first listed as questionable, head coach Dan Quinn is now saying he's limited, which is a sign of progress for the rookie.
But Jayden still feels a little bit away from being able to play against the Bears, despite his statement, "I want to play, but it’s not my decision."
So, what does the coaching staff need to see to give Daniels the green light?
"I think the response to say that you're feeling good, that you're not in pain," Quinn said. "So how does your body respond from really getting pushed? So I would say that's what we need to see the testing is ongoing to get to that spot."
While Daniels' rib injury is showing slow signs of progression, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see him ruled out of this Week 8 clash in a bid to live to fight another day.
Yes, fans ideally want to see Daniels out on the field, but in the grand scheme of things for this season, putting him out on the field against Chicago's ferocious pass rush while dealing with a rib injury is a recipe for disaster.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota showed in the 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers that he is up to the task of taking over, and it appears it could be his show again.
Daniels appears close to full health, but in the NFL, "close" isn't good enough.
