Dallas Cowboys center Cooper Beebe is ready to take his game to a new level in Year 2.
To say that Dallas Cowboys center Cooper Beebe was thrown into the deep end in his rookie season is an understatement.
But he didn’t just float, he flourished, playing 16 games and becoming one of the most dependable offensive line pieces, along with Tyler Smith.
Granted, it wasn’t all smooth sailing, but for the most part, Beebe looked like he belonged at the NFL level, and of course, having a future Hall of Famer to your right in Zack Martin certainly helps.
But how is Cooper finding training camp as his second season begins?
“It’s going well,” Beebe said. “Year two, I’m so much more comfortable, confident in myself. Last year was definitely eye opening. I was out there kind of just trying to figure it all out, shout out to Zack [Martin], he was the one teaching me how to play last year. But this year I’m just so much more confident.
“We have a great group of guys to be around. Very smart players and the cohesion together is just, something we’re really building. I think that’s something you can see out here at training camp. Just us playing together is really shown, and I think that’s going to help us.”
With the offensive line undergoing a revamp of sorts with rookie Tyler Booker replacing Martin, plus now that Tyler Guyton is out for four to six weeks with a bone fracture, it has been second-year tackle Nate Thomas stepping up.
But the group as a whole has had a solid training camp, with the offense clearing winning the day on Thursday with Dak Prescott throwing touchdown after touchdown.
Yes, it’s early, but Beebe, after a solid rookie season, looks set to take another leap in his development as the underrated leader of the unit.
