Cowboys Gain Massive Haul in Proposed Draft Trade with Texans

In this proposed NFL Draft trade with the Houston Texans, the Dallas Cowboys would get a return that gives them the most picks in the entire Draft, which could then be swapped elsewhere. How could you say no?

As we near the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, the uncertainty around the Dallas Cowboys' No. 12 pick has lead to more and more chatter about what could possibly happen.

Thanks to recent bits from the Jones family, Cowboys Nation has plenty of draft-day material to go off of, including multiple positions Dallas could target at 12 or a possible trade back in the first round.

If they were to trade back, say to the Houston Texans at No. 25 (or somebody around there), they could return considerable capital.

Albert Breer has reported that Houston is shopping around with interest in moving up, hoping to draft an offensive lineman.

Even though every team flirts with this idea of moving up or down on Draft week, let's consider the Texans as actual buyers because they already have an extra third-round pick to play with.

That could create a serious package. Cowboys watcher Brandon Loree cooked up this proposal from Houston if they choose Dallas as a potential trade partner.

HOU gets: 1st round-pick (No. 12)

DAL gets: 1st (No. 25), 2nd (No. 58), 3rd (No. 89), 5th (No. 166).

That's a big-time haul. Frankly, Dallas would be wrong to not give this idea serious thought.

Adding three picks onto Dallas board will give the Cowboys the most picks of any team in the NFL this Draft, as it stands right now. While not all of those prospective would make the team, the added resources can be swapped again later in Draft weekend.

We've heard Jerry Jones' "substantive" claim about engaging in trade talks ... if those trades need to include extra picks, maybe a trade for an established player could become more possible.

This trade would make sense for Houston as there are a bunch of top OL talents expected to be available in the first 15 spots. Missouri's Armand Membou, Texas' Kelvin Banks Jr., Alabama's Tyler Booker, and Ohio State's Josh Simmons would be the likely candidates.

For Dallas? They move back to fall into range for any position of need at the top of their to-do list. Either a starting running back, an explosive second-option receiver, or a potential starting cornerback could be in play.

Otherwise, the deal could put Dallas into a clear spot to pick the best player available at any position.

If we look at the handy-dandy trade value chart Cowboys' fans know and love, here is the trade's breakdown:

DAL gives up: 1200 points

HOU gives up: 1210 points

That's about as close as you can get ... while still making sense for both sides.
