Cowboys Lose Potential Starter To Arch-Rival in NFC East

FRISCO - Late on Monday night, the Dallas Cowboys not only lost another defender ... they lost him to a hated rival.

A Cowboys source confirms to CowboysCountry.com that this loss comes along the defensive line as rotational defensive end Chauncey Golston is making the move out of The Star ...

But staying inside the NFC East.

Golston, who some in the NFL think is an ascending talent, has agreed to a three-year deal worth a reported $19.5 million, with the contract including $12.25 million guaranteed.

And he's done it with the New York Giants.

The Giants, who already have a collection of standout D-linemen led by Dexter Lawrence, will find an at least rotational spot for Golston, who over his four seasons in Dallas never quite elevated to the level of starter.

But on the 2025 Dallas roster? Micah Parsons will man one end but its a grab bag at the other end, with DeMarcus Lawrence entering free agency and Dallas crossing its fingers that Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland can get the job did.

The Cowboys are hopeful they can retain (on the cheap) Carl Lawson as well.

Over four seasons, the 6-5, 270-pound Golston - who was a third-round pick out of Iowa in the 2021 NFL Draft - recorded 135 tackles and nine sacks. But last year, Golston, 27, set career highs in tackles (56), sacks (5.5), tackles for loss (five), quarterback hits (eight), and pressures (18).

This is the second early hit on the Dallas defense, as the Cowboys lost cornerback Jourdan Lewis to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Monday free agency deal.
