Cowboys players must listen to CB Jourdan Lewis' warning before Giants game

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis is still one of the most underrated players on the team, making him someone worth listening to when he talks about the woes the defense is undergoing.

Following the team's underwhelming loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Lewis stuck to a theme when discussing what went wrong for the defense: Details.

Lewis was asked if he took confidence on the Cowboys' chances of beating the Giants having been so dominant over them in recent memory. He didn't hesitate.

"No, it's a new season, it's a new football team, and there are new things we have to get better at," Lewis told reporters on Monday. "Well, s**t, same things we have to get better at, we have to be more detailed."

Lewis' theme fits with Micah Parsons claiming the Cowboys need to stick to doing their jobs and avoiding attempts to be "Superman" and Dak Prescott's quotes on Dallas needing to move on past bad moments on the field and avoid "dwelling" during a game.

Lewis went a step further, indicating that if the Cowboys don't buckle down, not only will good teams get them at every turn but that "anybody" can beat them.

"We got to be detailed, we got to see how we can stop people," Lewis added. "At the end of the day, this is about us stopping people—that's just what it is. We have to be credible and accountable every single play, and that's 60 minutes of football. It doesn't matter who we play; we have to go out there and be detailed in the plays. If we’re not doing that, anybody can beat us in this NFL."

Lewis' words should be taken as a warning by the locker room and one that should ring particularly important as Dallas has an opponent many will consider to be on the "easy" spectrum in the NFL. But make no mistake about it: The Cowboys cornerback is right. With the way they're playing, any team in the league can knock them out if they don't tighten it up.

The Cowboys are currently 4.5-point favorites over the Giants ahead of this Thursday, when they'll go on the road to play their NFC East rival. The Cowboys have a couple of days more to make the necessary adjustments.
