Cubs Predicted to Cut Ties With Multiple Top Prospects for Kyle Tucker Reason

The worst thing any team in baseball can do that's in a spot to contend is hold on to prospects for no reason.

Frankly, despite how talented the Chicago Cubs' farm system is, there isn't much of a reason for them to continue doing so. The Cubs have an opportunity to win a World Series. If they know they can keep Kyle Tucker around if they speak with his agency and the left-handed Slugger to ensure that he'd be willing to take a deal if they present him with one, it should be very easy to make some of the decisions they have to make over the next few weeks.

However, that raises the question of what the Cubs might do. Some have suggested that they could look to trade some of their top prospects, while others have noted that Jed Hoyer might want to hold on to some.

When searching for potential trade candidates, Fox 32 Chicago brought up a few intriguing names.

“The other question to all this becomes what would the Cubs have to give up to acquire a starter? Catcher/first baseman Moisés Ballesteros might be a player teams most would start with. Same goes for Cubs' top prospect Owen Caissie.

“James Triantos and Kevin Alcántara, two 22-year-old players at the AAA level could also be involved. The Cubs already sent 2025 first-round pick Cam Smith to the Astros for Kyle Tucker, which paid off as Tucker is an All-Star starter, which is also proof of the reward that comes with he risk of trading prospects for a starter,” they wrote.

Moises Ballesteros is the most intriguing name here, but it's also important that Fox 32 brought up the Cam Smith trade. Smith has the opportunity to be a very good player in this league, but just look at what Tucker has done.

Tucker is clearly one of the better players in baseball and has completely changed this Cubs lineup.

Why not continue to add players like that by moving other prospects?
