Dak Prescott will have more help when returning to the Dallas Cowboys this season.
Dallas landed another top target for Prescott, acquiring George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in May. Prescott is excited about his new teammate.
On Tuesday, Prescott said that it won't take long for him and Pickens to mesh on the field. The quarterback cited his past experience assimilating Amari Cooper and Brandin Cooks into the Cowboys offense.
Prescott also believes Pickens' skill set will allow a seamless transition.
"You turn on that guy's tape, he's getting separation," Prescott said, via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "He's got separation even when he's not getting the ball at times. And when he doesn't have separation, he's still making the catches.
"It's not going to be hard. For me, it's about getting the ball near that guy, and he will be George Pickens. Go turn on the tape. He's great at doing it."
Prescott also dismissed any questions about Pickens' character after spending time with the 24-year-old.
"That knowledge, that involvement, it shows you a guy that loves football and that, to me, delegates a lot of the things you heard in the past about him," Prescott said, per Cowboys.com's Patrik Walker. "Great dude, loves his teammates and is excited as hell for this season. I know he is, and I know he's happy to be in a fresh new spot and excited for what he's going to do for us."
Beyond CeeDee Lamb, no Cowboys wide receiver has amassed 700 receiving yards in a season since 2020. That could change after trading for Pickens, who has recorded 2,841 receiving yards in three seasons.
"To be the guy that gets them the ball, it's exciting as hell," Prescott said.
Prescott and Pickens should have a full preseason to work together. Recovering from season-ending surgery on a partially torn hamstring, the quarterback said he's "healthy as can be" and expects to be ready for training camp.
