Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay can talk some smack on the internet, but when it comes to in-game action, he stays quiet.
That's because it takes too much energy, however, the same can't be said for Slay's teammate C.J. Gardner-Johnson -- the king of talking smack.
"He be going non-stop. I asked him how he talks this much in the game and is still energized. ... What did you take that I need to take, cause I be tired in the game," Slay said during a recent appearance on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. "He's talking every play and it's good energy, it's great energy, but I can't talk too much, I [am] too tired."
Gardner-Johnson even trash talked the city he came running back to, infamously saying "My least favorite thing is the people. They're f*****g obnoxious. I can't stand those f***ers," during a live video game stream exactly one year ago this month.
He had since apologized via Twitter/X writing, “I do owe the fans of Philly an apology, regardless this is an amazing place and we had some memories together! Let’s go get us one #FlyEaglesFly.”
But knowing Philly fans, they only took it as a compliment and are more than stoked to have CJGJ's smack talking personality back on the roster.
Slay is excited to have him back too.
"If you know Chauncey, Chauncey gets it going. He got a mouth. But he comes to play with it. He backs his talk up a lot," Slay said.
Despite Chauncey's troublesome mouth, the Eagles desperately needed a guy like him to elevate their secondary after what happened last fall.
And if can play a big role in being a part of the change that Eagles fans are hoping for this year, then nobody is going to care what he's out there saying.
