DeAndre Hopkins provides injury update on his knee ahead of Titans vs Bears NFL Week 1 opener

Receiver DeAndre Hopkins is hoping to be ready for the Tennessee Titans 2024 season opener against the Chicago Bears. A knee strain has kept the three-time All-Pro out of practice for the bulk of training camp.

DeAndre Hopkins sends warning to other NFL teams

At his first Nashville youth football camp on Sunday, Hopkins made sure to temper expectations.

DeAndre Hopkins Updates His Progress

"Of course, I'm preparing to play," said Hopkins. "But, you know, there's measures (in place). We've got a long season, so I'm sure (the Titans) will make the right call. The rehab guys, Todd (Toriscelli) have been doing a great job."

Hopkins, 32, has been the picture of health since arriving in Tennessee.

In his first season of a two-year, $26 million contract with the Titans, Hopkins played in all 17 games. His 137 targets, 75 catches, 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns led all Tennessee pass-catchers in 2023. Week 1 in Chicago will prove a critical test for new coach Brian Callahan's offense with or without Hopkins on the field.

It is imperative that the team prioritize Hopkins' longevity, however.

"Can't substitute it," Hopkins said of his time away from the team during the rehab process. "I missed it. I was out there (in Los Angeles) rehabbing for two weeks. Felt like two years. I was ready to get back the day that I left.

"Just being around, feeling the atmosphere of football, especially as we ramp up to go against Chicago. It just feels good, man. I'm trying to learn the offense, as well. Just being in those meeting rooms, asking questions and just being around the guys. Nothing compares to it."

Callahan said last week that the team was still hoping to get Hopkins back for opening day, adding that it will all be dependent on how the veteran feels in practice this week.
