DeMeco Ryans makes his feeling clear about playing the Detroit Lions

He says ‘if we all play better, we’ll be in a position to win games’

DeMeco Ryans spoke to the media this week about Joe Mixon’s performance this season and the confidence that he has in the offense.

Houston Texans: How defense turned it around in win over Jacksonville

On how much QB C.J. Stroud utilizing his check down would alleviate some pressure

DeMeco: When I am talking about everybody playing better, it’s everybody. It’s the quarterbacks, the tight ends, receiving team, our entire offense, our entire defense, our special teams unit. That is where I am at. We can hone in on different spots and all those things, it doesn't matter. Each position, no matter what it is, from top to the bottom, if we all play better, we'll be in a position to win games.

On thoughts on RB Joe Mixon’s performance so far this year

“[RB] Joe's [Mixon] been dynamic for us. Every time he touches the ball, he's going to gain some type of positive yardage, and all that credit goes to all the guys blocking the front. They do a great job blocking it in the run game. We had a lot of lanes available in the run game. [RB] Joe [Mixon] runs the ball with that relentless mindset, physical, running guys over, playing the game the right way. He brings a passion, brings an edge to the game that I think everybody can feed off of.

On if he has the same confidence in the offense as he does the defense to step up when players get injured

DeMeco: As coaches, it’s all of our job to put our guys in positions to be successful. It’s our players job to go out and execute and play to the best of their ability. When their opportunity comes, are you making those one on one plays? That's what the game ultimately always comes down to, no matter how you slice it up in the league, are your players making the plays they need to win games? That’s what it always comes down to.
