There are tons of questions regarding the future of the New Orleans Saints. Veteran starting quarterback Derek Carr missed a notable amount of time this season due to injury. That's two years in a row where his lack of availability has made a stark difference for the offense.
Carr is confident that he'll be back with New Orleans in 2025, but there's plenty of factors involved for the Saints this offseason, including a new head coach.
Carr discusses future with Saints
Derek Carr told NewOrleans.Football that he feels “very confident” he’ll be back with the Saints in 2025 and finally try to have the kind of healthy, consistent season that has eluded him and the entire team in his first two years here. -- Mike Triplett via NOFNetwork
The Saints QB was confident when discussing the offense when it was healthy this season. There was a mixture of frustration because of the injuries that mounted and a hopefulness for the future from Carr.
“I don’t fear anything if I’m honest. And I love being here. I think the way we were able to start playing – especially when I go back to the end of last year and how we kept going through this year – when we were out there, it was pretty freakin’ awesome."
“It’s not an excuse, but when you deal with those many injuries, it just would’ve been nice to see what it looked like without ‘em. We got a small sample size in both years, and it was like, ‘Oh, it looks pretty sweet when we’re all healthy,”

As for New Orleans, they'll have tough choices to make with many veterans, across the board.
Will they move on from players like Cameron Jordan or Tyrann Mathieu on defense? Will Carr be the clear starter next season, or will he be on a new team? How will New Orleans maneuver the salary cap to put out a capable roster in 2025?
All in all, Carr's role next year is yet to be decided for the Saints. I'd expect meetings to take place between the quarterback and the new staff once they're hired.
He sounds ready for another opportunity to prove himself in New Orleans, but it remains to be seen if he gets that chance next season. Only time will tell.
