Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta just put together another impressive campaign through the 2024 NFL regular season.
In his second year as the Lions' No. 34 draft pick out of Iowa, LaPorta reeled in 60 catches for 726 yards and seven touchdowns.
These 60 catches tack onto the impressive totals he secured during his Pro-Bowl rookie season in 2023. With 144 career catches, LaPorta now holds the all-time reception record among tight ends through two career seasons.
The Lions recognized LaPorta's historic accomplishment with a social media announcement on Friday.
"Sam's been getting after it!" the team wrote on X.
While LaPorta holds this record for now, there's a solid chance his 144 mark gets shattered in 2025. First-round tight end Brock Bowers just set the all-time NFL rookie reception record with 112 catches in his debut season with the Las Vegas Raiders, earning First Team All-Pro honors.
With the help of LaPorta's solid production in the receiving game, the Lions finished the 2024 regular season with a 15-2 record and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
