Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is in the final year of his contract and is currently negotiating a new deal. The Dodgers' skipper is one of the winningest managers in the storied franchise's history, with a record of 851-506. He took over as manager in 2016.

Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman spoke with reporters at Camelback Ranch on Friday about a potential new deal and said contract talks are ongoing. Here's what Roberts had to say about the situation:

"I'm very hopeful that it will get done. I love being here. I haven't shied away from that," Roberts said Friday morning. "I'm confident it's going to get done. Right now, being here, I'm just really focused on these guys, pouring into them, and just trying to get better and do something really special for his ‘25 club."

Since 2016, Roberts has led the Dodgers to the World Series four times and won two of them. He has also helped the team win eight division titles in nine seasons.

There's no doubt Roberts will be back with the organization after this season; it's just a matter of how Roberts values himself and whether Friedman is willing to offer him a lengthy extension of between five and six years.
