Draymond Green Gets Brutally Honest on Klay Thompson’s Dallas Mavericks Jersey Number

After spending 13 years in the Bay, All-Star shooter Klay Thompson is ready to start the next phase of his career with the Dallas Mavericks, including using a new jersey number. This prompted Draymond Green, his former Golden State Warriors teammate, to give his take on the number Thompson chose.

In a groundbreaking move, the Mavs have acquired Thompson in a sign-and-trade deal involving a record six teams. The historic transaction not only brings the Splash Brother to Dallas but also sees the Western Conference team receive a 2025 second-round draft pick.

The Mavericks parted ways with fourth-year swingman Josh Green and a second-round pick to complete the deal, which also involved the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Thompson, known as half of the iconic Splash Brothers duo with All-Star point guard Stephen Curry , will join a dynamic Dallas backcourt featuring Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, forming a formidable Big Three with the duo. The sharpshooter’s addition bolsters the team’s outside shooting prowess, as he was second in the league in catch-and-shoot threes last season.

Mavs General Manager Nico Harrison’s aggressive approach has once again paid dividends, securing the services of a future Hall of Famer in Thompson. The move solidifies Dallas as a major contender for the NBA title next season, as they aim to build upon their recent Finals appearance.

Dallas Mavericks Star Klay Thompson’s New Jersey Number Gets Honest Take From Draymond Green

Just recently, Thompson revealed that he’ll use 31 as his new jersey number for the Mavericks. In a post by ESPN on Instagram , Warriors forward Draymond Green dropped his take on the Splash Brother’s choice of number.

Over the course of last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Apart from connecting 38 percent from deep, he also led the league in free throw efficiency by hitting 92 percent of his attempts from the foul line.

With Thompson and Green now playing for opposing teams, fans will be looking forward to the first game between Dallas and Golden State. In any case, next season is going to be an exciting one for the former teammates.
