Eagles’ DeVonta Injury Clouds Cowboys Showdown
The Philadelphia Eagles began their preparations for Sunday's crucial matchup against the Dallas Cowboys without one of their key offensive weapons, as wide receiver DeVonta Smith was among three players who would have missed practice had the team conducted a full session instead of Wednesday's walkthrough.
Smith, who was listed with a hamstring injury, has been a vital piece of the Eagles' passing attack this season. The timing of this injury concern is particularly notable as Philadelphia heads into a pivotal NFC East clash in Dallas.
The third-year receiver's status bears monitoring throughout the week as the Eagles prepare for their second meeting with the Cowboys this season. While the team opted for a walkthrough on Wednesday, Smith's inclusion on the injury report signals a situation worth watching as the week progresses.
Smith wasn't alone on the sidelines, as linebackers Nolan Smith (groin) and Ben VanSumeren (concussion) were also listed as non-participants for Wednesday's theoretical full practice.
On a more positive note for the Eagles' offense, tight end Dallas Goedert was a full participant in the walkthrough, marking significant progress in his return from a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for three games. Goedert has had 24 catches for 301 yards this season. A.J. Brown also returned to practice after leaving Sunday's win early with a Knee injury.
The Eagles will continue their preparation for Sunday's game against Dallas, with Smith's practice participation in the coming days likely to determine his availability for the weekend's crucial divisional matchup.
