The Eagles met with many prospects at the Senior Bowl, but two, in particular, tell Inside the Iggles that they met with Philly and enjoyed their meetings.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson told the media ahead of Super Bowl LIX that he wouldn't retire after the Super Bowl regardless of the result. He said he believes he has at least one more season left in the tank. But, we all know how this game works, right?
The Eagles have been fortunate to have him on their roster for as long as they have, but they are also going to need to find his replacement eventually.
Two projected top-50 NFL Draft prospects who play the offensive tackle position told Inside the Iggles that they had meetings with Philly.
The Eagles meet with Jonah Savaiinaea at the Senior Bowl.
"It'd be an honor to play for anybody, but especially [coach Jeff Stoutland]," Those were the words of Jonah Savaiinaea as he reflected on the possibility of Philadelphia taking a chance on him.
The Arizona Wildcats offensive tackle told our Inside the Iggles staff that the meeting went "great". He also added the following:
"[The meeting] is another opportunity for myself to tell them my story, to tell them who I am, and to show them what I have."
Savaiinaea is a consensus top 50 prospect, according to the Mock Draft Database. He was mocked to the Baltimore Ravens with the 27th overall selection in Eric Edholm's first mock draft.
Some simulations, however, have Savaiinaea falling to the Eagles at pick 32 (we're assuming Philly wins the Super Bowl) which would pair him with renowned offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.
"It would always be great to play under coach Jeff... He coached a lot of legends. He's currently coaching Jordan Mailata, another Polynesian player... Having Coach Jeff lead those guys, it'd be a pleasure [to play for him]." As Savaiinaea said, he would have pre-existing ties to Jordan Mailata, who is Samoan-Australian. The junior offensive tackle grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Philadelphia also spent some time with and Josh Conerly Jr. at the Senior Bowl.
Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. is widely regarded as one of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 NFL Draft and many sites have him projected to be drafted in the first round.
Conerly went viral during Senior Bowl week for the wrong reasons -- getting leveled by Marshall pass-rusher Mike Green in a competitive rep.
Though the one rep turned a lot of heads, it was Conerly's play for the remainder of the week that turned even more heads. He was one of the standouts at practice in Mobile, Alabama.
"That's why I came here," Conerly said, "This is the best competition that there will be and I just want to go out here and show people that I can stack up with them." He made the most of the opportunity and told Inside the Iggles that he, too, met with the Eagles at the Senior Bowl.
"[The meeting] was pretty good -- it was a lot of get-to-know-you stuff," the former Oregon lineman said. While it may be a stretch to believe he'd fall to the Eagles at pick 32, crazier things have happened and he projects as a realistic player to be at the top of the draft board.
Conerly is young, just 21 years young, and with his youth brings room for growth -- again spearheaded and brought on by Stoutland and staff. "Obviously, I could take my game to the next level [with the Eagles]," Conerly said, "It'd be an honor to play for anybody, but especially him."
Stoutland and the Eagles offensive staff have that effect on people, and while Johnson may not be retiring after this season, the Eagles will surely discuss finding his replacement. Conerly and Savaiinaea are two players who seem thrilled at the opportunity of landing in Philadelphia -- it'll be something to monitor as the draft nears.
While both standouts make a lot of sense for the Eagles at pick 32, the front office is doing its due diligence, even with the Super Bowl approaching, as they met with another offensive lineman...
