It's 2025 and as the calendar turns, the Tennessee Titans need to try to leave the horrors of 2024 in the past.
In the last year alone, the Titans fired head coach Mike Vrabel, brought in Brian Callahan and a completely new coaching staff, lost Derrick Henry in free agency, and spent over $200 million on talent just to be sitting at 3-13.
While Amy Adams Strunk has been doing everything in her power to help her organization go from good to great, the Titans seem further away from contending now than they did heading into 2024.
With that in mind, here are three New Year's Resolutions that the Tennessee Titans should strive for in 2025 that will get them closer to Super Bowl contention.
1. Find a new quarterback
The search for a new quarterback takes precedent as the top goal for the Titans in 2025. The writing is on the wall for Will Levis to be replaced, and with Tennessee sitting in a coveted draft position, the upcoming QB search will capture all of the offseason headlines. And for good reason.
Finding a franchise quarterback is the most essential piece of any NFL rebuild. You don't get many opportunities to pick at the top of the draft. The Titans very simply have to get this right (assuming they actually lose out and maintain their spot in the draft order).
I'm all over Shedeur Sanders as the best option for the team moving forward. If the Titans come out of 2025 with a promising rookie quarterback, the rest of the year can be chalked up as a win.
2. Stay patient
It has never been more essential for Amy Adams Strunk to stay patient than it is right now. I believe in organizational alignment and one thing I do not want to see happen in 2025 is the Titans draft a rookie quarterback and then fire the coaching staff/front office if the team does not immediately turn things around.
The Titans either need to start fresh and clean house now, or they need to be willing to commit to Carthon, Callahan, and others for the foreseeable future.
Good NFL teams have unison between the quarterback, head coach, and GM. This offseason presents Tennessee with a chance to get that. But we all need to remember that a 6-7 win season in 2025 is perfectly okay if Sanders (or any other young QB) looks promising.
3. Spare no expense on the offensive line
For as much money as the Titans spent on fixing roster holes last offseason, they somehow neglected the offensive line and watched it be detrimental to their offense all year long.
JC Latham and Peter Skoronski look like talented young players. Lloyd Cushenberry was given a big contract in free agency and will return for 2025. But I want to see the Titans go all out to fix the right side of the line this offseason.
In an ideal world, Tennessee would spend on a proven talent to play right tackle and ensure that whoever is playing quarterback next year has adequate protection. Self scouting can be just as important as amateur or pro scouting and the Titans need to realize that what they currently have on the roster is not cutting it up front.
