It's almost unfathomable that someone could fall so far and do so as swiftly and unexpectedly. Devin White has known two teams during his NFL career, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles. Those teams met on the field to battle in a football game this past Sunday. Things didn't go well for Philly.
White hasn't dressed for a game all season. He was a healthy scratch in weeks three and four. He didn't travel to Brazil in Week 1 nor did he travel to Tampa for the most recent contest in Week 4. Somehow, he still managed to make a few headlines.
White's absence was described as 'personal'. We aren't sure what was troubling him, but he managed to see the game and log into social media.
It's official. The Eagles need to move on from Devin White.
Suiting up to play a team that gave up on you sounds like an adrenaline booster. Something tells us that White circled the Eagles' fourth game on his calendar.
Things have changed since Philly acquired him. He's been passed on the depth chart by Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun. That has seemingly made the former first-rounder expendable.
Somewhere along the line, he may have also forgotten which team pays him. Instead of cheering his current team on via social media, he was busy on Sunday reposting a tweet about Lavonte David's forced fumble. FOX Sports' Greg Aumon
Clearly, this wasn't a good look, and it's hard to know what he is or was thinking. This just drives two points home that have never been stated but are seemingly well-known and obvious. Philly doesn't want this guy around, and he doesn't want to be here either.
White was the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has since gone from being one of the best players on the field during a Super Bowl to being given up on by two teams in less than 12 months.
There are rumors that Philly can pawn him off on someone via trade. If that doesn't work, the Eagles have no other option than to cut him. They should simply cut their losses and decide to move on without him.
