Eagles Rumor Predicts Joey Bosa Free Agency Signing

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, the front office is already evaluating potential replacements for what could be another significant defensive shake-up this offseason.

Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa ate up to 5,000 calories to gain weight

And there is speculation that has GM Howie Roseman once again swinging for the fences.

With key players like Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Zack Baun headed for free agency, the team faces a situation eerily similar to two years ago, when they lost Javon Hargrave, T.J. Edwards, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson after their previous Super Bowl appearance against Kansas City.

Given the Eagles' cap constraints, retaining all of their impending free agents seems unlikely. That means at least one or two high-impact defensive additions will be necessary to maintain their elite defensive front. According to Bleacher Report's scouting department, one intriguing trade target who could help fill the void is Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa.

"Top Trade Targets: EDGE Joey Bosa, IOL Shaq Mason, OT Evan Neal," Bleacher Report noted in a recent analysis. "They have a fairly tight cap situation, but Howie Roseman has already proven he is good at managing the cap aggressively through void years and restructured contracts. The Eagles' willingness to do that could allow them to go after a player like Joey Bosa...He could help replace Josh Sweat if he leaves in free agency."

Bosa, a four-time Pro Bowler, is currently playing on a two-year deal worth over $40 million with the Chargers. His contract includes a potential out after this season, which becomes particularly relevant considering his cap hit jumps to over $36 million in 2025. While landing Bosa would require some creative cap management from the Eagles' front office, it could be a transformative move for their defense if they can make the numbers work.

Beyond potential trades, the Eagles will hold either the 31st or 32nd pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, depending on the Super Bowl outcome, which could be used to address their defensive needs. The team has also built a reputation for finding value in free agency, often securing key veterans on one-year "prove it" deals.

The similarities to the post-Super Bowl LVII offseason are striking, but the Eagles have shown they can rebuild on the fly. After losing multiple defensive starters two years ago, they successfully reloaded with draft picks like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith, while supplementing with strategic free-agent signings. As they prepare for another potential defensive overhaul, they'll need to lean on that same blueprint to sustain their success. ... and big predictions could fit with what GM Howie Roseman does next.
