Former Steelers wide receiver Mike Williams did not have the best time in Pittsburgh last season.
Williams started the year in New York and played the first nine games of the season with the Jets to underwhelming results. After a trade to the Steelers, his time in Pittsburgh was even less memorable, per Williams himself.
With the Jets, Williams started three games and caught 12 passes on 21 targets for 166 yards and no touchdowns.
He was traded to Pittsburgh for a fifth-round pick and hoped for a positive change of scenery. And his time with the Steelers started on a positive note as he caught his first touchdown of the season in a win over the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
But it was downhill from there.
After signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as a free agent this offseason, Williams reflected on his disappointing 2024.
"Last year was terrible for me. I’m just being honest. It was terrible. Probably the worst year I’ve had in the league by far,” Williams said last week. “So I’m just putting it in the past, that was the past, and I’m trying to make it feel like it didn’t happen for me.”
The 30-year-old played in nine additional games for Pittsburgh after the trade and tallied nine receptions on 13 targets for 132 yards and the lone score.
Now, another fresh start presents itself in Los Angeles.
