Exciting Lightning Forward Is Starting To Break Out

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime on April 11 by a 4-3 final score. While the Lightning did not win this matchup, it did feature some bright spots, with forward Gage Goncalves being the most notable.

Tampa Bay Lightning reportedly place Gage Goncalves on waivers - Raw Charge

Goncalves had a strong night against the Red Wings, as the 24-year-old forward scored twice for the Lightning. With this, the 2020 second-round pick now has eight goals, 10 assists, 18 points, and a plus-2 rating in 57 games this season.

However, what's more encouraging about Goncalves' play is that it only seems to be getting better as the campaign rolls on. In his last four games, he has now three goals and four points. In addition, he has posted 16 points in his last 30 contests. This is after he started the year with only two points in his first 27 games with Tampa Bay.

Clearly, Goncalves is starting to find his offensive game at the NHL level, and it is undoubtedly good news for a Lightning club that needs more secondary offensive production. Now, Goncalves is giving them just that with the playoffs right around the corner.

Tampa Bay Lightning Forward Out Indefinitely

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that forward Luke Glendening will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury.

Glendening left the Lightning's April 9 contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs during the first period after suffering an injury. Now, with this latest update from the team, it is clear that Glendening is set to miss some time.

Glendening is a key part of the Lightning's fourth line, so it is certainly tough news that the veteran is being listed as out indefinitely. The 35-year-old forward has appeared in 77 games this season, posting four goals, seven points, 105 hits, and a minus-9 rating.
