Exclusive: Andrew Lincoln 'The Ones Who Live' UK release exclusive interview

It has been a long time coming for UK fans to have access to TWD spin-offs, and the 'long-term' deal with Sky and NOW TV has us excited for the future. So, it is an ideal time to binge-watch the main series and prepare for the incredible journey we will embark on with The Ones Who Live across the coming week on Sky Max. If you cannot wait to sink your teeth into more undead, apocalyptic action, then head to NOW TV to watch all six episodes.

In light of the recent partnership between TWDU with Sky and Now TV; I had the pleasure of sitting down with Rick Grimes himself, the legendary Andrew Lincoln, to discuss how it feels that fans in the UK can now stream the series. But I also wanted to know if the iconic prank war between the cast continues. And Andrew gave us a fantastic behind-the-scenes story, and it involves velour!

Lincoln explained how after a long wait and delay, he is pleased that fans can now experience this incredible story in the UK:

"There were lots of exciting aspects to this show, that we really couldn't wait for the British public to see."

He continued to joke that he is happy that no one will 'stop him in the street' to ask about a British air date. He then continued, when asked about a slightly darker version of Rick Grimes emerging, to say that he sees Rick as an "emotional contortionist" and that was a big pull to him returning to play the iconic role. Lincoln then describes the series as being a "bigger and more epic scale than what we are used to" when discussing the series.

"If there were another opportunity to tell this story, I quite like the idea of pairing it really right back down to basics again"

Lincoln goes on to describe how Season 1 of the Mothership series had that stripped-back horror feel, and he would love to explore that more, should there be more opportunity for Rick Grimes to return. Although his ideal filming location is Hawaii so there can be "surfs up, zombie style" brought to the TWDU. I then asked Lincoln about the viral prank he played on co-star Danai Gurira, which she shared on her social media pages involving lots of velour.

"It was probably Ricky Dicky Doo Dah Grimes!"

Lincoln recounts the hilarious days on set between the cast on a "Sopranos day" and how Danai had a few tricks up her sleeve to retaliate back. And that she did! And you can catch the hilarious first-hand recount in the full, exclusive interview above.
