Former Green Bay Packers CB Slams City in 1st Press Conference with New Team

The Green Bay Packers secondary is going to look a bit different in 2025 than it did in 2024. Nate Hobbs was signed in free agency away from the Las Vegas Raiders as the team hopes to have a more healthy crew next season. Of course, Jaire Alexander may or may not return, though it seems like his days in Green Bay are numbered following comments he made to reporters following the Packers’ postseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Eric Stokes, Green Bay Packers

One player that certainly will not be back is 2021 first round pick Eric Stokes, who signed a one-year $4 million contract with the Raiders earlier this week.

And it sounds like there is one specific thing he is not going to miss about the city of Green Bay.

Former Green Bay Packers CB Eric Stokes Is Looking Forward to the Las Vegas Strip

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jalen Nailor (83) pulls down a first down reception against Green Bay Packers cornerback Eric Stokes (21)

Stokes spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Packers, but unfortunately did not play as much or as well as one might expect from a first round pick. While he had a stellar rookie season with an interception and 14 passes defended, a sophomore slump combined with a brutal foot injury derailed his tenure with Green Bay.

After his return from injury in 2023, Stokes suffered a series of hamstring issues that limited him to just four games. And while he played all 17 games in 2024, he was a shadow of the player the Packers drafted.

A fresh start is certainly what he needs in order to resurrect his NFL career, and he gets the opportunity to do so in Las Vegas, a city known for its night life.

And that is something Stokes is looking forward to:

“I ain’t gonna lie to y’all. I ain’t even gonna sugarcoat it. Yeah, Green Bay’s different. I love Green Bay. I absolutely love Green Bay.

“But after about 10:00, there ain’t nothing to eat in Green Bay. So I’m really excited about the food options out here so that I can really show my big back activities.

“Yeah, I just can’t wait.”

Stadium View Bar and Grill, which is just a couple of blocks away from Lambeau Field, is open until 2:00 AM. The same is true of Blue Collar Bar and Grill. The Scrapyard Smoker is open 24 hours. Player 2 in Green Bay is also open until 2:00 AM.

And as one might have expected, fans were quick to take a few jabs at Stokes following his comment:

Hopefully Stokes is able to find some success in Vegas. It is not his fault that he got hurt in the first place, and his subsequent injuries were the result of his body trying to make up for the strength he lost.

But Packers fans will remember this.
