Former Notre Dame QB Ian Book has gone viral and it has nothing to do with football

When former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book isn’t competing for a roster spot with the Kansas City Chiefs, he apparently is putting down an unhealthy amount of pizza. In the typical pizza format, you are working with eight slices. According to stat signal caller, and Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, a single pie wasn’t enough for Book.

"Ian Book had like nine pieces of pizza yesterday, man,” Mahomes told the media on Thursday. “I had to calm him down. The first time we went, he only got one piece because the offensive line ate all his pizza."

We are in the dog days of training camp right now, and apparently everyone is hungry. Book, who began his career with the New Orleans Saints, is a long shot to make the roster right now. Behind Mahomes, he is competing with Carson Wentz and Chris Oladokun.

With a job more than likely not in the cards, Book should be getting his money's worth right now. Leaving the preseason with some good film for other teams, and a full stomach of pizza, is firmly in the cards.

Outside of his one year with the Saints, Book has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, and now Kansas City Chiefs. That is largely due to his tremendous career with Notre Dame, where he finished his career with 8,948 yards passing and 72 touchdowns. Book also added another 1,518 yards and 17 scores as a runner.

The California native ended his Irish career with a 30-5 overall record as a starter. Those 30 wins are the most in programs history for a starting quarterback.
