George Kittle Injury Update Revealed Hours Before 49ers-Seahawks

The Seahawks enter with a 4-5 record, and the 49ers are 5-4 as both teams try to make a push for an NFC Wild Card spot.

49ers tight end George Kittle has been a big question mark all week long and has been nursing a hamstring injury. As a result, he has been limited in practice, putting his availability for Sunday's game up in the air.

Early Sunday morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed some big news for the 49ers regarding Kittle's status.

"49ers TE George Kittle, who is questionable for Sunday's game due to a hamstring injury, is unlikely to play vs. the Seahawks, per sources," Schefter wrote on X. "The 49ers want to see how Kittle is feeling pregame before making any final decision, per sources. But they are not optimistic that their Pro-Bowl tight end will be available versus Seattle."

Kittle has played in eight games this season, catching 43 passes for 560 yards with seven touchdowns.

Kyle Shanahan, earlier in the week,  didn't seem concerned about Kittle's status, but Schefter's report says they are now "not optimistic."

If Kittle can't be suited, Eric Saubert will likely replace Kittle. The 49ers backup has just four catches all season long.

The 49ers and Seahawks kickoff at 1:05 p.m. PT (4:05 p.m. ET) on Sunday.
