The Pittsburgh Steelers have had problems with George Pickens, mainly some of the effort on his routes. Head coach Mike Tomlin chalked it up to simply ‘load management,’ but there seems to be concern around the team about keeping Pickens engaged.
So, Pickens' dad took to X and advised the team on how to keep Pickens engaged. A big part of what Pickens' father would like to see is getting Pickens involved early and often, which will cause Pickens to be engaged for the rest of the game.
"He has the Super Competitive Gene. Guys with that Gene, have to be involved early and often. It’s a engaged tactic. Involve him early," Pickens' father said.
Pickens played a career-low 34 snaps against the Cowboys. That was just 59 percent of snaps overall, though his usage tracked with the team’s switches from 11 personnel into multiple tight end sets.
Justin Fields targeted Pickens seven times against the Cowboys, but he still ranks just 22nd in the NFL in targets overall.
