Green Bay Packers’ Former Star Reveals Big Take On Jordan Love Contract

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2024 NFL season in a much different situation than they began the 2023 campaign. Last year, they were viewed as underdogs and heading into a rough rebuild after trading Aaron Rodgers. Now, they’re viewed as a potential dark-horse Super Bowl contender.

While the Packers are expected to find success in 2024, there are a lot of other questions surrounding their future. Most importantly, the franchise will need to figure out a new deal with Love at some point in the near future.

All offseason long, there has been speculation that the Packers could look to lock up Love this offseason. Others have stated that Green Bay should wait to see Love prove that his 2023 production wasn’t a fluke.

Following the big extension between the Detroit Lions and Jared Goff, former Packers’ star offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga spoke out about Love’s next contract.

Former Green Bay Packers Star Speaks Out About Jordan Love Extension

During a segment on ESPN radio, Bulaga dropped a bold take about how Love should view his contract talks with the Packers. It seems like the Goff extension may give the Green Bay Packers’ young quarterback even more bargaining power.

“If I’m Jordan Love and his camp and I’m thinking the Packers are only going to offer $150M guaranteed and they just gave Jared Goff a $170M, why would we settle for that much less on a 4 or 5-year deal?”

That is a very valid point. Love was a very comparable, if not better, quarterback than Goff last season. He should be asking for a contract from the Green Bay Packers very similar to what Goff got.

On the Packers’ side of things, they might even be willing to come up to that price point. Love certainly showed the potential of being one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during his first season as the starter.

During the 2023 season, Love ended up completing 64.2 percent of his pass attempts for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also picked up 247 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Those are elite numbers and worthy of a very large contract extension, especially if he can replicate or improve on that success in 2024.

At this point, it would not be surprising to see the Green Bay Packers let the contract talks play out for awhile. If he starts off the season as dominant as he finished 2023, it’s likely that Brian Gutekunst and the front office would move quickly to lock up their young franchise quarterback.

Expect to hear more reports and opinions about this situation in the coming weeks. Jordan Love is primed for a big pay day in the near future from the Packers.
