Every single Green Bay Packers fan was shocked to hear about the Parkinson’s diagnosis that Brett Favre revealed recently. It was a sad thing to learn about a player that every Packers fan has adored at one point or another.
Favre has been a very quiet person since his retirement from the NFL. He has made very few trips back to Green Bay and has kept to himself for the most part. He has made appearances on talk shows, but very little has been known about what he’s doing in his retirement.
Dropping the news of the diagnosis the way he did took everyone completely by surprise.
Now, fans can learn a bit more about what Favre is dealing with. The former superstar Packers’ quarterback spoke out recently with an update on how he’s doing and how the disease is impacting his life.
During a recent interview, as shared by TMZ, the Green Bay Packers’ legend spoke out more about Parkinson’s.
“With my Parkinson’s, the main side effect is rigidity and stiffness. I have a little bit of shaking, but not much. But, rigidity and stiffness,” Favre said. “When I wake up in the morning, I feel like a board. I don’t need any help because of football to be any stiffer. But, all things considered, I’m a very blessed man.”
Since announcing his diagnosis, Favre has received a lot of love from his fans. Even though there are some hard feelings about how his playing career ended up, most Packers fans still love Favre.
Thankfully, Favre was able to get diagnosed earlier than most. Due to that fact, doctors have been able to start battling the disease and slowing down its progression before most have the opportunity to do so.
Hopefully, due to the early detection of the awful disease, Favre will be able to avoid progressing quickly.
All of that being said, our thoughts and prayers are with Favre and his family. He may not play for the Green Bay Packers anymore or visit the franchise very often, but he will always be a Packer in the hearts of the fans.
