Houston Texans are proving to C.J. Stroud that they are dedicated to fixing their front line of protection

Last season, the Houston Texans pretty much stayed at the same level that they were at the year prior. They still lost in the second round of the playoffs, it's just that one year was to the Baltimore Ravens and the other to the Kansas City Chiefs.

How Oregon Ducks OT Josh Conerly performed at 2025 NFL Combine

Both years also had 10-7 seasons. However, there was one major difference in the two seasons. The 2024 season didn't feel as magical as the 2023 season. It didn't feel as fun when you think about how hard it was for them to get those 10 wins. They struggled really badly on the offensive side of the ball, specifically with injuries and bad offensive line play.

According to Sports Info Solutions, the offensive line had the 12th-most Blown Blocks last year. Not only that, Stroud was the fourth-most pressured quarterback in the league last year with 240 total pressures, and was sacked the second most with 52, per NFL Pro.

So, yes, they need to address the offensive line. And they have done that already, kind of, by getting rid of a guy in Laremy Tunsil, who was at that point last year, being paid far more than the level he was playing at. Now they have to find his replacement, along with some other pieces on the offensive line.

Luckily, this 2025 NFL Draft class is loaded with offensive line talent. And, the Texans are showing C.J. Stroud that they are committed to protecting him.

Texans to visit with Josh Conerly Jr.

The Texans will likely draft an offensive lineman in this draft, and maybe even two \. In fact, I'm willing to bet money that they take at least one. The question, though, is if they do that in Round 1 at pick No. 25, or later in the draft.

Right now, they have their eyes set on a guy who, to get, they would need to take in the first round.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Houston Texans are going to be visiting with Oregon Ducks offensive lineman Josh Conerly, who is considered one of the best offensive tackles in this draft, and has been mocked to the Texans at pick No. 25 by several NFL Draft experts and analysts.

Conerly would be a great fit on this offense, especially considering how big their need is at tackle. They are trying to replace Tunsil with former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson. And, that may work, who knows, but if it doesn't, they still need a long-term solution at both offensive tackle spots.

Conerly has a great stance and quick movement with good footwork. However, his hands lack at times, especially in placement. He also lacks push in man or gap blocking schemes. So, yes, there is some work to be done, but his potential is great.

Now remember, these visits don't mean anything outside of the fact that the team wants to see if they fit the culture or not. So, let's see what they think.
