Hurts is climbing up the ladder when it comes to rushing TDs for a QB
Hurts enters the season with 41 career rushing touchdowns in 62 career games. With two rushing touchdowns on Friday night, Hurts will tie Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young (43 rushing touchdowns) for the third-most rushing touchdowns ever by a quarterback.
Cam Newton is the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns for a quarterback with 75. Below you can see the list of the QBs with the most rushing touchdowns in NFL history, and where Hurts fits in.
Hurts is obviously going to catch, and pass, Young in the very near future. But, will he do it against Green Bay in Brazil to solidify his spot on the above list? It's certainly possible. Getting two rushing touchdowns in a single game obviously isn't easy, especially for a quarterback, but it's something that Hurts is no stranger to doing.
In fact, Hurts holds the NFL record among quarterbacks for games with multiple rushing touchdowns with 12. Most recently, Hurts had two rushing touchdowns in a game against the Seattle Seahawks in December of last year. In all, he accomplished the feat four times in 2023. He's never had a multi-rushing touchdown game against the Packers, though, so perhaps he'll be able to add them to his list.
If Hurts does come out and tally two rushing touchdowns in the first game it will probably be a good sign, as it will mean that the Eagles were able to move the ball up the field and get the job done in the red zone on multiple occasions.
The game against the Packers will be Philadelphia's first game under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and it will also represent the first game since star center Jason Kelce retired from the team. Those are both factors to keep in mind when the team takes the field in Brazil on Friday night.
